Sneak Peak Hanzel and Gretyl, Boomer Dude, Dudette

Hanzel and Gretyl A Boomer Fairy Tale.

“Once upon a time there lived kindly gray-haired, grandfather Hanzel and his sweet-as-strawberry-pie, spinster sister Gretyl.  That witch-in-the-forest thing when they were kids was tough, but what happened to them in their retirement—well, it’s just so hard to believe.  Here’s how the story went.

Hanzel and Gretyl lived in a yellow ranch style house with professionally landscaped front yard.  But they didn’t live in the actual house.  That’s where Hanzel’s ungrateful son, his son’s nasty second wife, and their bratty grandson lived—with a 150-inch plasma screen television, Evil Step-daughter-in-law’s boxes of yarn, and Bratty Grandson’s superhero comic book collection.  The spare bedroom, ideal size for an elderly, platonic couple, was Evil Step-daughter-in-law’s macramé studio.” …read all of H&G’s hilarious adventures at Amazon Kindle.  Read all five 5* reviews.

  1. Obviously a hilarious Boomer take on a very old tale…Does it apply today? The author invites us to find out! I’d like to add that this is yet a totally different genre in Boomer literature, a new genre that pulls together a variety of writers that have in common life experience and talent. Anyone clicking on the Boomer Lit Friday site will find many more and very diverse authors, writing in genres that span from romance to thrillers, a real discovery for readers!

    • Claude, you are absolutely correct. Boomers won’t be taking elderhood quietly. If we’re sitting on the front porch it’s with a laptop writing, writing, writing. Boomlit will make a splash, you can be sure.

  2. Ha, interesting twist on the fairly tale. I love “what if” stories…

  3. What a hoot of a concept! You had me smiling and chuckling – great way to start the weekend!

  4. This is so funny! There’s a whole lot of fairy tales that could be converted to boomer stories.
