Writer’s Block Variant: Writer’s Distraction
Scientists are considering reporting in the Journal of Irreproducible Results the discovery of a variant virus to Writer’s Block disease: Writer’s Distraction virus. Writer’s Distraction does not appear to be fatal, as WB sometimes is. Like the common cold virus, the WD virus results in symptoms sometimes only for an hour or two, rarely for a few days. Risk factors include an empty fridge, nice weather, and Sundays during the football season. Researchers are working on a vaccine, but say their work has been slowed by the Superbowl. Prolonged absence of WiFi and internet access is seemingly a preventive, and the medicos promise to try to confirm that when the batteries to their Super Mario Brothers run down.

And remember to wash your hands regularly!
I’m not getting the vaccine until I find out where that nurses’s fingers have been.
So THAT”S my problem – intermittent and recurring writers distraction virus.
Precisely. It’s Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for writers.
You’ve infected me with your distraction.
And the cure is Jameson’s. Always practice safe fax.
Lovely snark.
Thanks for stopping by.
Timothy,
Thanks for introducing me to JIR — I love it!
JIR has been around for eons since I was in college with the dinosaurs, and confirmed for me that scientific minds had a wonderful sense of humor. The series of “scientific” reports on the then new birth control pill chemical, noacetol, a benzene ring with nitroso radicals in all positions–that was hysterical.
